Kurt Huber is Director of the 3rd Department of Medicine, Cardiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Wilhelminenhospital in Vienna, since November 2002.

This is a tertiary cardiology department with all interventional facilities. The department is part of the VIENNA STEMI network, which has been organized by Kurt Huber since 2003.

As author or co-author Prof. Huber has gathered to date more than 600 peer-reviewed publications, including his active co-authorship in ESC guidelines on ST-Elevation MI (2008, 2012), myocardial revascularization (2010), non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (2011), and non-cardiac surgery (2014).

He was reviewer of the recently published ESC guidelines on Non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndromes (2015). His current total impact factor (IF) is > 3000, his Hirsh (citation) factor according to Web-of-Science is 62, and he is the only Austrian scientist in the rubric clinical medicine within the most frequently citated authors 2015 according to Thomson-Reuters, New York.

In addition he participated actively as co-author in important recent textbooks including Percutaneous Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine (PCR Publishing, 2012), The ESC Textbook of Clinical Cardiology (Oxford University Press, 2014), Fast Facts: Acute Coronary Syndromes (Health Press, USA, 2014), Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in the Patient in Oral anticoagulation (Oxford University Press, 2014), The ESC Textbook of Intensive and Acute Cardiac Care (Oxford University Press, 2015), and the ESC Textbook of Preventive Cardiology (Oxford University Press, 2015), respectively.
